The begining of a little country kitchen......

I spent 8 years studying to be an architect, for which in return I have a very rewarding job!

Since finishing my studies I decided to find something new to learn outside the office..hence my journey into cake decoration and a new way to employ my creative skills!

So after some cake decorating lessons I am embarking upon making cakes for family, friends and anyone who is interested on my way!. I love a challenge and I really enjoy making them and it something completely different from my day job!

So this blog is an photographic portfolio of my journey, to give you an idea of what I have done/ maybe can do :-)

A Birthday Walk in Paris

So to be sneaky....although she shouldn't have be suprised!!! I teamed up with my best friends husband ( he was the ideas man)...to create a suprise birthday cake for my best mate Emma...

He came up with a theme of paris..( where they got engaged ah)

I was feeling a little brave...so painted a romantic pattern on the side... added some photo printed postcards...a parisian yellow rose....couture bracelet....a can can dancer and an eiffel tower!
It all went swimmingly apart from the eiffel tower....that stayed on the acetate...rather then being skeletal ( maybe royal icing is never going to be my strong point!)

But either way I was really pleased with it ;-)

Baby shower!!!

So I came back after christmas promising myself I wouldn't do too much....a lie.

In the first week I had a baby shower cake to do for a friend of a friend...and my best mates birthday cake.

The baby shower cake...was my second shaped cake...and my first attempt and any proper piping.

It was 3 blocks, with pearlised lustre, images on the face- which I stencilled in chocolate and piped detail around the side...which I pearlised ...with a teddy on top!

It took a long time....but I was quite pleased with it- was a standard vanilla sponge- with jam and vanilla buttercream.

The Stuff Xmas Gifts are made of!!!

So as most of you already know...as you have hopefully already eaten them- I made xmas gift cakes for quite a few people this year. I decided it was  much more personal and gave me some much needed practice!

I made skiing and sledging penguins, mice decorating trees and happy snowmen!! I really enjoyed it- perhaps a little too much!
