The begining of a little country kitchen......

I spent 8 years studying to be an architect, for which in return I have a very rewarding job!

Since finishing my studies I decided to find something new to learn outside the office..hence my journey into cake decoration and a new way to employ my creative skills!

So after some cake decorating lessons I am embarking upon making cakes for family, friends and anyone who is interested on my way!. I love a challenge and I really enjoy making them and it something completely different from my day job!

So this blog is an photographic portfolio of my journey, to give you an idea of what I have done/ maybe can do :-)

First Cakes of 2011- Double Trouble

My first lot of cakes for this year came very early! With 2 at the same time ( I'd not done this before) One Chocolate Sponge with Ganache and One Vanilla Sponge. One was a Football Themed cake and the other was a German and Spanish Themed cake- They both tested by modelling skills to the maximum! But I was very pleased with the results :-)

Christmas Presents Ahoy!

This Year, I decided for it to mean much more to mine and Dave's friends I decided to make alot of presents in the form of Gingerbread Houses, Mini Christmas Cakes and Large Christmas Cakes and Cupcakes...The results of which are below.....and hopefully everyone was pleased!

In the Night Garden....Take 2

This cake was a very cute little girls birthday....who adores Oopsie Daisy. It was a 21cm Vanilla and Jam Sponge...Decorated with all the chararcters....I was a hardened professional....as I had done them before lol. This one came out really well and I was really pleased with it!

Scooping Up the Chocolate! Get In

This cake was another for my boss and his two boys being christened. It was the largest cake I have made! and boy did I know it! It was a chocolate cake and chocolate ganache and all the digger was cake as well. The digger was based on scoop from Bob the Builder...scooping up chocolate and sugar for authenticity!

Timmy Time on The Rah Rah Train!

This was a 21cm Chocolate Square Cake for a 1st Birthday, with the filling being a chocolate ganache.

It had the timmy time chararcters on it, all modelled with my own fair hand....all sat on the rah rah train!

It was quite good fun, as hte characters were quite easy to make!

To Infinity.....and Beyond!

So it was my friend Nita's little boys 4th birthday.....he wanted a toy story cake- how could I resist!!!
Vanilla cake with jam & buttercream. My first exploration into tiering....and it didn't fall!
I made the bottom part to look like an old wooden barrel, with sugar for sand.
The added buzz bursting out of the top, with woody sitting on the side- with lots of glitter dust and shimmer for some magic!

I also make some fondant topped cupcakes to go with the party bags as welll- vanilla with jam in the middle! yum!!!
